One will be at Waltham Forest Mela, Chestnuts Field, Waltham Forest Town Hall, Forest Road, Walthamstow E17 4JF from 1.30pm - 6pm on Sunday 31 July.
The markets provide a safe and trustworthy environment for adults and children to sell their outgrown, unwanted bikes, and buy at affordable prices. It is an environmentally friendly, low-cost scheme to encourage people to get on bikes.
The process is simple – drop off your bike in the morning and label it with your contact details. A mechanic checks your bike over, estimates a sell price and notifies you by email. If you want to go ahead the bike will be serviced and offered for sale to the public during the day along with other bikes. If it doesn’t sell on the day you have the option to take it home again or it can be carried on to sell at other markets.
So if your kids have outgrown their bikes, you need a second commuter machine, or want to get into cycling but are struggling to afford a decent bike, the pop up market could be just for you.
